Michael Griffith

Michael William Griffith, a beloved member of the Circleville, Ohio community, passed away on May 9, 2023, at the age of 83. He was born on October 5, 1939, in New Lexington, Ohio, to Robert (Bob) Griffith and Edith Griffith (Allison). He was preceded in death by his parents, grandfather George Custer Griffith, brother George Griffith, and brother-in-law Richard Justice.

Michael graduated from Circleville High School in 1957 and went on to take classes at Ohio University. He worked for Yahr Furniture in Columbus before becoming the owner of Griffith Carpets in Circleville, where he worked for 50 years.

Michael had a passion for cars, particularly 1957 Chevrolets, which he showed in national competitions and won many championships. He was a National Chevrolet Judge and a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, former Grand Knight of the Circleville K of C, and Faithful Navigator of the 4th Degree. Michael was also an animal lover and had a deep affection for his dogs.

Michael is survived by his loving wife Patricia, his daughter, Elizabeth Griffith, and his sons, Robert Griffith (Michelle Griffith) and Adam Griffith, siblings Barbara Jones (Mike Jones) and Patti Justice.  He also leaves behind many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will miss him dearly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am, Friday May 12, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Fr. Ted Machnik officiating, where Michael was a longtime member. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 Friday at the church.  The burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the St. Joseph's Catholic Church or the local animal shelter in Michael's honor.

Michael will always be remembered for his dedication to his family, his community, and his passions. His kind and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
