Larry Pontius

Larry Gene Pontius, of Circleville passed away peacefully at his home on April 13, 2024. Larry was the son of James and Martha Pontius and was born on September 14, 1946. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Diana, infant brother Terry as well as his Mother and Father-in-law Margaret and John Gregory. Larry is survived by his loving wife Joanne who he has spent 55 wonderful years with, sons Tim (Jennifer) Pontius, and Barry Pontius (Tina Vandagriff); granddaughters Rachel and Alexandria; brother-in-law Roger Clarke; nephews Kevin Clarke, and Chris Clarke; niece Kim Speakman, Mary Young, and numerous cousins.  Larry was a veteran who served in the United States Coast Guard and worked as a Purchasing and Human Resource Manager at Jefferson Smurfit for 27 years before the plant closed in 1998. He enjoyed playing cards, going to yard sales, and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes. He loved spending time with his family especially during the holidays throughout the year with

Christmas always being the most special to him. His granddaughters will always hold a special place in his heart as they brought him a great amount of love and joy. His story telling and the laughter he brought to many will be missed by all of those that he has touched over the years. His family would like to thank Mount Carmel Hospice for the care, love, and comfort that they provided to him. In lieu of flowers donations in Larry’s memory can be made to Mount Carmel Hospice. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, April 17, 2024, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 pm at Wellman Funeral Home, 1455 N Court St, Circleville, OH.
