Carol Smith, 79, of Laurelville passed away on October 30, 2023. She was born on July 14, 1944 in Clendenin, West Virginia to Denzil and Kathryn (Young) Swiney. Carol was a bus driver for Logan Elm School District for 30 years; years of ticket selling for Laurelville Fire Department; did fund raising for multiple organizations. She always loved helping people in need and always had a smile on her face. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her in-laws Ralph and Georgie Smith; step mother-in-law Zella Smith and brother-in-law Joe Sparr. Carol is survived by her husband Ralph Smith Sr.; children Butch (Linda) Smith of Chillicothe, Joyce (Kenny) Skaggs of Laurelville; siblings Tom (Sharon) Swiney of Wilmington, NC, Sue Hays of Plymouth, MI, Patty Sparr of Bogart, Georgia; grandchildren Jeremy (Chantel) Skaggs and Cody (Jessica) Smith both of Laurelville, Kassie (Trevor) Ross of Lancaster; great grandchildren Nicholas and Cody Davis, Reilly, Bristol and Scarlett Skaggs, Carter Smith, Zane and Fallon Ross; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and by brother-in-law Bill (Joy) Smith of Clendenin, WV and sister-in-law Darla Smith of Clendenin, WV. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Wellman Funeral Home, Laurelville with cremation to follow.
