Virginia Newman

Virginia L. Newman, 66, of Laurelville, died May 3, 2010 at Adena Hospital. She was born February 29, 1944 in Fairfield County, the daughter of the late Elijah and Cleona M. (McVaey) Abbott. She was a member of Laurel Hills United Methodist Church and retired from General Electric after 35 years of service. She is survived by her husband, John Newman; daughter, Jonda (Brandon Rutter) VanFossen of Laurelville; grandchildren, Ernie VanFossen, Jr., Starr Anna VanFossen, Dawson and Branda Rutter; sister, Phyllis Starner of Lancaster; brother, Tony Abbott of Laurelville and close friend, Jennifer Thatcher and her son, Matthew. Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday May 7, 2010 at the Wellman Funeral Home, Laurelville. Burial will be in Green Summit Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
