A. Todd Fortner passed away peacefully, though unexpectedly at home on May 29, 2025.

Todd was born to William and Patricia Fortner in Joliet, Illinois on December 27, 1973. They moved back to Ashville, Ohio where Todd was raised. He was a 1992 graduate of Teays Valley High School where he was a friend to many and found his passion for football. It was this passion that led him to Capital University where he continued his football career as a Crusader. While at Capital, he found the love of his life, Nancy. Together they raised two wonderful children, Ashley and Zeke. He especially loved being Pampaw to his grandchildren, Jackson and Lyla.

Todd proudly served his community through a career in law enforcement working for the Ashville Police Department, Pickaway County Sheriff’s Department, and ultimately retiring from the Ohio Bureau of Investigation in February 2024. Additionally, he was a member of the Ohio Military Reserves and retired at the rank of captain. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson with his Krusader Motorcycle Club brothers. He enjoyed relaxing at “the compound.”

Todd is preceded in death by his parents William and Patricia (Welsh) Fortner. He is survived by his wife of twenty-nine and a half years Nancy (Vollbracht) Fortner; children, Ashley and Zeke (Rachel) Fortner; grandchildren Jackson and Lyla; his best four-legged buddy, Mikey; the Perdew family; and many other friends and family members. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 from 3-7 p.m. at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Funeral service will be on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow in Reber Hill Cemetery.
