Stacy Lynn Maple, 55, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026, at her home in Circleville, Ohio, surrounded by her family. Stacy was born on January 9, 1971, in Athens, Ohio. She grew up as the oldest child of William and Mary Hughes and sister to Tracy Probasco. Stacy was raised in the Deercreek and Mt. Sterling areas, where she attended Westfall High School and was a member of the marching band. She graduated as a Mustang in 1989. At about fifteen years of age, Stacy began attending Mt. Sterling Church of Christ in Christian Union. One day, during a Sunday school class led by Kelly Otero, Stacy made the decision to give her heart to Jesus Christ and make Him her Lord and Savior. Stacy was serious about her commitment to the Lord and was very open about her faith. She carried this faithfulness and devotion to the Lord throughout her life until the day of her passing. After graduation, Stacy enrolled at Circleville Bible College (now Ohio Christian University), where she received a degree in Christian Education. She later went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Education from Mt. Vernon Nazarene University. On July 17, 1993, at Rubyville Community Church, Stacy married the love of her life, Dr. Donald Maple. Stacy and Don were married for thirty-two years and had two sons. Their marriage was filled with an authentic and genuine love that transcended trials, hardships, and words, as evidenced by the fact that Stacy insisted on Don’s presence during her most painful moments, even when words were hard to come by. After receiving her degree from Circleville Bible College, Stacy worked multiple jobs in the field of education. She served as a preschool director at Cypress Christian Preschool and ABC Christian Preschool. Stacy also worked as a school teacher for eleven years. Her most recent teaching position was at Millennium Community School, where she worked tirelessly to provide her students with the high-quality education and love that every child deserves. Above all, Stacy was a devoted mother to her two sons, Matthew and Andrew. Her accomplishments as a mother cannot be overstated. She instilled in them a love of Jesus, teaching, and football. She was a constant supporter of her sons’ academic and athletic careers. She always pushed them to strive higher in their academic pursuits, even when they did not want her to. She was an ever-present voice at their football games, never missing a single game throughout both their playing and coaching careers, even as she battled for her life. Stacy was preceded in death by her father, William A. Hughes; her paternal grandfather, Henry P. Hughes; and her maternal grandparents, Edward and Flossie Cartwright. Stacy is survived by her grandmother, Betty P. Burdette Hughes; her mother, Mary H. Cartwright Hughes; her husband of thirty-two years, Donald R. Maple; her children, Matthew (Madison) Maple and Andrew Maple; her grandchild, Quinton Maple; and her sister, Tracy Probasco. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Will and Jake Darling, Larissa Williams, and Brooklyn and Hunter Probasco, as well as several aunts and uncles.
