Shawn Michael Waugh July 28, 1976 – July 23, 2026 Shawn Michael Waugh, age 49, entered into the presence of his Lord unexpectedly on Thursday, July 23, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering faith, sacrificial service, and deep love for his family. Born on July 28, 1976, Shawn dedicated his life to serving both his country and his Savior. After graduating from Gallia Academy High School, he honorably served four years in the United States Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Private First Class. His military service reflected the discipline, courage, and commitment that would characterize the rest of his life. Following his military service, Shawn answered God’s call to ministry. He furthered his education through Ohio Christian University, studying Missions and Christian Education, and devoted the next 19 years to missionary work in Papua New Guinea. Whether serving at home or abroad, Shawn faithfully shared the love of Christ through compassion, humility, and service. His life touched countless people, and his example of Christian faithfulness will continue to inspire those who knew him. Above all else, Shawn was a devoted husband and father. His greatest joy was his family, whom he loved wholeheartedly. He is survived by his beloved wife, Bethany Waugh; his cherished children, Abigail (18), James (16), and Josiah (14); his mother, Claudette (Daniels) Huggins; and his stepfather, William Huggins. He also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, fellow missionaries, and brothers and sisters in Christ who will deeply miss his kindness, wisdom, and steadfast faith. Shawn was preceded in death by his father, Gary Waugh. Those who knew Shawn will remember a man of quiet strength, unwavering integrity, and genuine compassion. Whether serving his country, ministering on the mission field, or simply loving his family, he sought to honor God in all he did. His life was a testimony to the words of Matthew 25:21: “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Though his earthly journey has ended far too soon, Shawn’s legacy of faith, service, and love will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. Service Information Visitation will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the family church (Crossroads). A funeral service celebrating Shawn’s life will take place on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., followed by interment with military honors. Family, friends, and the community are invited to attend and honor his life and ministry.
