Samuel Russell

Samuel A. Russell, 47, of Mt. Sterling, died July 9, 2009 at Berger Hospital. He was born June 3, 1962 in Circleville, the son of Lester and Florence (Payne) Russell. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and employed at the London Correctional Institute as a Correctional Officer. He was preceded in death by his parents; 7 aunts and 6 uncles. He is survived by his wife, Viva (Apperson) Russell; sisters, Judy (Jerry) Ritchie and her children, Christina (Joe) Herron, Eric Hawkes and Heather Ritchie of Circleville and Bonnie Copley of Circleville; aunts and uncles, Alva (Mary) Russell, Hazel (Carl) Lynn, Amos (Shirley) Payne and Glenna “Boots” (Carl) Brown; several cousins and nieces and nephews in McConnelsville and special pets, Cocoa and Bear. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday July 11, 2009 at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Friday and 12:00 noon until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the V.A. Hospital.
