Roger Lee Adkins Sr., 78, of Chillicothe, went to be with the Lord on February 1, 2026, at Adena Hospital. He was born at home on August 3, 1947, in Harts Creek, West Virginia, the son of Musco and Belva (Dempsey) Adkins Sr.

He is survived by his loving wife, Vickie (Riffle) Adkins; children, Roger (Erin) Adkins Jr. and Michelle (Jeremy) Klinebriel; grandchildren, Lexus Forrest, Roger Adkins III, Brodey Lowery, Raylee Adkins, Victoria Klinebriel, and Rylee Dowden; special cousins, George Farley and Charlie Casto; brother-in-law, Kenny Hedges; sisters-in-law, Becky Hedges and Robin Coleman; and special friends, Tim Agee and Bo Colburn.

He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the 9th Infantry, 2nd Battalion, 31st Artillery during the Vietnam War. He fought in multiple areas but most often spoke of his time in the Mekong Delta, where he was wounded in action. While in the Army, he held several positions, including wireman, infantryman, artillery crewman, and others. He was honorably discharged as an E-4 and was awarded several medals, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Service Star with Expert Rifle Badge, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and two Overseas Service Bars for his two tours.

He was a hardworking man and, while working at Clamco in Columbus, Ohio, he met the love of his life, Vickie. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and pap. He was generous, kind, and fun, and he enjoyed laughing with his family. He loved fishing and hunting when he was able. One thing he truly loved was gardening, and he had a green thumb when it came to taking care of his flowers and trees. His favorite pastime was sitting on the porch watching birds and taking road trips with his family. He leaves behind many life lessons, traditions, and loving memories for all who knew him. Everyone who knew him loved him and his amazing stories.

Roger was a lifetime member of AMVETS Post 2256 in Circleville, Ohio, as well as a lifetime member of the NRA.
