Robert Dumm, 90, of Circleville died on Saturday, September 6, 2014. He was born on May 11, 1924 in Circleville to Wayne H. and Mabel Mae (Riggin) Dumm. He was a floor coverer for Griffith and Martin Floor Covering for 19 years and then started Robert Dumm Floor Covering working at that for 28 years. Bob was a 1942 Circleville High School graduate, was an active member of Good Shepard United Methodist Church where he taught young adult and adult Sunday School classes; was Chairman of the Administrative Board; Sunday School Superintendent; President of the Trustee Board; Chairman of the E.U.B. Men’s Congress; Lay Leader; and Liturgist during his faithful years of service. He was also a former member of Pontius United Methodist Church and while there taught an adult Sunday School Class. Bob also served on the Board of Directors of Brown Memorial Home and co-chaired along with his wife, Clara, the Circleville Community Kitchen for ten years.
Mr. Dumm was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-laws, Forrest Schlegler, Retha and Emmit Eccard, Alice and Woody Clifton, Ralph and Geraldine Diltz, James F. Diltz, Clark Zwayer, Dale and Roger Diltz. Mr. Dumm is survived by his wife, Clara (Diltz) Dumm, son; Gary (Marsha) Dumm and their children, Hillary M. (Jason) Herbert and Lauren A. Braun and their children, Brooklyn and Riley Herbert and Kennedy Braun, daughter; Christine (Dean) Martin and their son, Samuel Aaron (Karrie) Martin and their children, Kimber and Kinsley Martin., one sister, Joanne Schlegler and by sister-in-laws, Lottie Diltz, Marilyn Zwayer, Helen and Suzanne Diltz and Elizabeth (Karl) Diltz. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in the Wellman Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Gruver, Reverend Emmit Eccard Jr., Professor Anthony J. Headley and Chaplain Jim Ferrell officiating. Burial will be in Hitler Ludwig Cemetery. A Visitation was held on Monday from 6-8 and friends may call on Tuesday from 2 until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family request contributions be made to Berger Hospice in memory of Bob and in honor of his hospice caregivers for the past 2 ½ years, Jim Ferrell, Gary Wasmer, Tammy Weber, Carrie Schneider, Kim Graffis, Allison Smith and Jill Landis.
