Phillip R. Long, 80, of Circleville passed on July 27, 2025 at his home surrounded by his wife and sons. He was born June 18, 1945, at White Cross Hospital in Columbus, Ohio to the late Willard G. and Jessie M. Schettler Long. On May 27, 1967 he married his high school sweetheart Judith I. Nickell and rejoiced in their marriage for fifty-eight years. He is survived by his wife and two sons Phillip Craig and Mark Alan of Circleville, Ohio and one granddaughter Brianna of Grove City, Ohio and special friend Jennifer Vo. Surviving siblings: Rick (Kay) Long, Columbus, Marlene (Richard) Vitatoe, Chillicothe, sister-in-law Debbie Long, Chillicothe, Jim (Sandy) Long, Ray, David Long, Lakeland, FL, Marta Gayle (Tim) Fout, Wellston; and numerous nieces and nephews. Proceeding him in death was one brother Williard “Skip” Long. Extended special family Melvin (deceased) and Linda Nickell, Henry Nickell (deceased), Fred and Marty Kruger, David and Jenni Nickell and his four- legged friends. Phillip was a 1963 graduate of Allensville High School. He served his country in the US Army Reserves for four years. He worked for Adelmans Lumber in McArthur, Frick-Gallager in Wellston, Wearever Aluminum in Chillicothe, Ohio before entering the Ohio State Highway Patrol with 26 years of service. He was stationed at the Circleville Post and from there transferred to General Headquarters in Columbus, OH. After retiring from the patrol, he went on to work for Department of Aging and Veterans Administration. Phillip was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many and will be sadly missed by all. Private services were held.
