Paul S. Woods was born on December 4th, 1937 in Los Angeles, CA to Paul G. and Lucille L. Woods. He passed away on October 15th, 2025 at 87 years old at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, OH. He was a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, great-uncle, great-great uncle and friend. He graduated from Narimasu American High School in Tokyo, Japan in June 1955. Throughout his life he was a source of humor, love, and tremendous generosity to family, friends, and neighbors. He married his wife of 66 years, Mary E. (Kerns) Woods, on January 17th, 1959. He was a skilled machinist, working at General Electric for 13 years before opening his own machine and fabrication shop, Woods Welding, which he and Mary owned and operated for 31 years. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Ohio National Guard in 1966, serving seven years as an Infantry Officer. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and a Freemason involved with several lodges. He will always be remembered for his generosity, and he loved supporting local schools, churches, and first responders. He supported the Circleville Pumpkin Show, operating the forklift to weigh giant pumpkins and spearheading the committee to make the county’s largest pumpkin pie commemorating the 100th Pumpkin Show in 2006. He also loved morning trips to Circleville for Tim Horton’s coffee. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, MaryLu Craig and Bonnie Sue Deahl. He is survived by his wife, who wishes to extend a special mention of gratitude to Deborah Kerns and Jenny Skinner for their support. He is also survived by the families of his beloved brothers and sisters-in-law, including Karen Sabine, Robert Kerns, Jay Thomas, Marlene Vanderbosch, Darlene Miller, Deborah Kerns, and the family of Jerry Kerns, along with numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Countless friends, neighbors, and business associates also held a meaningful place in his heart. A funeral service to honor and celebrate Paul’s life will be held at Wellman Funeral Home at 1455 N. Court St. on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and share memories on Wednesday from 10-12.
