Mary Jane Smallwood

Mary Jane Smallwood, 78, of Ashville passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 1:39 a.m. at home. She was born December 5, 1946 in Circleville, Ohio, the daughter of Ruth Mary and Walter McCabe. In addition to her parents, Mary Jane was preceded in death by sisters Marlene Schultz and Connie McCabe. Mary Jane was a hairdresser for 30 years before retiring in 1994. She is survived by her loving husband Donald, son Shawn Van Fossen of Ashville and granddaughter Paige Riley Van Fossen; brothers Richard (Gail) McCabe of Laurelville, David (Debbie) McCabe of Laurelville; nieces and nephew; brother-in-law David Schultz and best friends Brenda and Mike Baker of Columbus, Ohio. Friends may call at the Wellman Funeral Home, Laurelville on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Green Summit Cemetery in Adelphi, Ohio.
