Leo Christopher Gillespie

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Leo C. Gillespie, age 75, of Circleville, Ohio, who passed away on July 27, 2026, after a long illness.

Leo was born on December 7, 1950, in Cleveland, Ohio. He lived a full and independent life, defined by hard work, loyalty, and a personality that could never be ignored. Leo retired from the technical trade after a successful career as a cable technician and was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 683 for 25 years.

Leo also honorably served his country in the United States Army, serving two years with the 97th Signal Battalion Company.

Throughout his life, Leo enjoyed traveling, dancing, boating, and playing with checkers. He was passionate about supporting charitable causes and was a dedicated supporter of his political party. Above all, Leo was authentic and unapologetically himself. He often remarked, "You either hate me or you love me." Those who loved him knew him as loyal, devoted, caring, protective, and endlessly entertaining. His presence filled a room, and his absence will be deeply felt by those fortunate enough to know him.

Leo is survived by his son, Christopher Gillespie; his life partner, Susan C. Gillespie; his brother, Michael Gillespie; his sisters, Mary Ann Raterman and Sara "Sally" Joseph; and many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Cemetery, 905 N. Court St; Circleville, Veteran’s section.

Though he is gone from our sight, Leo's spirit, humor, and unwavering loyalty will remain in the hearts of all who loved him. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
