John Robert Skidmore, Jr (Rob), 71 passed away on July 5, 2025. He was born to the late John and Georgene Skidmore on January 9, 1954.

Rob met his wife, Judy (Schein) Skidmore during high school as members of the All-Ohio State Fair Youth Choir and as performing choir members in Europe. They were married just one month short of 49 years. He was preceded in death by his son John Robert Skidmore III, parents, step-father Alan Mowder, in-laws Paul and Mary Alice Schein, and sister-in-law Karen Schein. In addition to his wife Judy, he is survived by daughter Kelly (Duce) Black, daughter-in-law Katie Skidmore, grandchildren Lillian and Jackson Skidmore and Ruby and Finley Black, sister Cynthia (Mark) Denehy, brothers Alan and David Mowder, brother-in-law, David Schein, sisters-in-law Patty Weiland and Nancy (Pat) Hurley, along with several nieces and nephews.

Rob attended Buchtel High School in Akron where he was active in church, scouts, band and choir. He graduated from Miami University with dual majors of History and Geography. He worked for USDA as an Engineering Tech at the Pickaway County Soil and Water District for entire career. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and he loved attending his children and grandchildren’s activities. He enjoyed singing in choirs and ensembles, and as a soloist at church, Roundtown Players, and community groups. In addition to singing, his hobbies included listening to all genres of music, attending Columbus Blue Jackets games as a season ticket holder from their inception, traveling, river and ocean cruises, beach walking, model railroads, puzzles, working outdoors, and studying History and Geography.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 from 2-4 p.m. at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. A private funeral service will be held to celebrate his life. Memorial contributions can be made to the Pickaway Soil and Water Conservation District and mailed to Pickaway SWCD at 110 Island Road Suite D, Circleville, Ohio 43113.
