It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of John Edward Hettinger, a beloved father, grandfather and friend. John was 90, of Laurelville, he passed away peacefully at home on September 13th, 2026. He was born on November 22, 1935, to Eugene and Wilda Hettinger in Columbus, Ohio.

John graduated from North High School in Columbus. He retired from many years at Dupont, Circleville. His mother instilled the love of music and John and his twin brother were known as the Country Twins. They played at the Grand Ole Opry and at local festivals for many years. John loved to play his guitar and harmonica at church and for family. He loved the Lord and witnessed to many. He was an Army veteran and a member of Mt. Carmel Church, Laurelville for many years.

His family will remember him for his love of fishing, hunting and gardening. He loved to go on the Winter Hike at Old Man's Cave and did that for many years without missing one. Many memories were made with the grandchildren on those hikes and fishing at the family pond.

He is survived by his two sons, John(Sara) Hettinger and David Hettinger. His two grandchildren Emily (Justin) and Andrew (Hannah), and two great-grandsons. He is preceded in death by his wife, Carrie.

Visitation hours will be held at the Wellman's Funeral Home in Laurelville on Thursday, September 17th from 4-7pm. and from 10 - 11am on Friday, September 18th. Funeral service will follow at 11am.

Burial to follow at Green Summit Cemetery in Adelphi, OH. Military Funeral Honors will be performed.
