John Joseph Fenneken, 79, of Circleville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026.
Born on September 7, 1946, in Columbus, Ohio, John was the son of the late Willard and Edna (Thompson) Fenneken Sr. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Joe and Bobby Fenneken, his sister, Janet Draise, and his son-in-law, Chuck Zimmerman.
John was a hardworking man whose strong work ethic defined much of his life. He began his career as a horse groomer and horse trainer for sulky racing, a role that reflected his dedication and willingness to work hard. Later, he worked at RCA where he spent the majority of his work life.
Known as a true jack-of-all-trades, John could fix just about anything. He took pride in staying busy and was always working on a project, helping a friend, or finding a way to repair something that others thought could not be fixed. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and bowling. He was a familiar face at local auctions, where he enjoyed spending time in the community.
John is survived by his children, Kevin (Sherry) Thatcher, Chris Zimmerman, Lori (Richard) Hunt, Jana (Neil) Harrington, and Erica (Kenneth) Windham and his grandchildren, Chereka McNichols, Nate Thatcher, Shyla Riker, Jennie Zimmerman, Kelli Zimmerman, Casie Thomas, Madison Storts, Jeremy Paulus, Jack Paulus, Vannittia Windham, Danté Lewis, Donovan Lewis, Nevaeh Windham, and Kennyana Windham. He also leaves behind several great-grandchildren.
John is also survived by his siblings, Mary Lenox, Jimmy Fenneken, Pamela Seitz, Shirley Kneece, Bonnie Fenneken, Patti McKenzie, and Fawn Hughey, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.
John’s legacy of hard work, dedication and perseverance will live on in all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Monday, June 15, 2026 from 10 am to 12 pm at Wellman Funeral Home, 1455 N Court St, Circleville, Ohio. Following the visitation, a graveside service honoring John's life will take place at 1:30 pm at Twin Township Cemetery located at 12202 U.S. Route 50, just east of Bourneville, Ohio (Google maps Plus Code: 7RQX+4W South Salem, Ohio).
