Fred Smith

Fred Smith, of Princeton, WV, formerly Orient, Ohio, passed away on Monday August 31, 2026. Fred was born on April 19, 1940 in Pikeville, KY to the late Willie and Nancy Jane Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Smith, daughter Rose Walters, and siblings Marie Smith, Clifton Smith, Bob Smith, and Clarence Smith. Fred is survived by his children Dan (Anita) Smith, Melinda Short (Robert East), Steve Smith (Toni), Jennifer (Joe) Farley and son-in-law Steve Short. 12 grandchildren (Seth Short (Miranda), Pat Short (Jess) , Kaleb Short (Heather), Shayna Smith, Brandon Smith (Katie), Cody Walters, Cory Walters (Deanna), Steven Smith (Kalynn), Kassie Blaess (Isaac), Trevor Farley (Emily), Abbi Farley and Clayton Smith (Kaylie). And 16 great grandchildren. Fred is also survived by his siblings, Joe (Nancy) Smith, Donnie Smith, Roger (Sharon) Smith, Greg Smith, Paul Smith, Burl Smith, and Michael Smith. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville with burial to follow in Beckett Cemetery.
