Emerson Connell

Emerson B. Connell, 95, of Circleville passed away on August 25, 2026 at his home, with family by his side. He was born on August 22, 1931 in Derby, Ohio to Brice and Edith (Deyo) Connell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Betty (Badger), brother Roger Connell, and sisters Robynell Curl and Kathleen Kolodgy. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, was a US Army Veteran from the Korean War, and was a retiree from Dupont. Emerson is survived by children Penny (Johnny) Wells and Keith Connell, grandchildren Kyann (Bryan) Brown, Tyler (Stevie) Wells, Erin (Chaz) McKnight, Stephanie (Branden) Cook and Trevor Connell, 13 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Emerson enjoyed touring the United States with Betty by motorcycle in years past, visiting or passing through 49 of the 50 states. They were both avid campers, and were long time members of the Big Pine Campers at the group’s private campground in the Hocking Hills. They also made several trips to Florida during the winter months. In his very early years, he was a member of a local Sport Skydiving Club and later earned his private pilot’s license.

Emerson loved spending time with his family, and reminiscing about the good old days. He enjoyed regularly dining out for breakfast and/or dinner at Goodwin’s, his favorite restaurant. He was a kind, caring and friendly soul, that you couldn’t help but admire and love.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Carolyn Liff (CJ) and Julie Davis for their compassionate care of Emerson, and the special friendships they developed during their time together.

Visitation will be held Saturday September 5th at Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with the funeral service beginning immediately afterward. Graveside service will follow at Forest Cemetery. Online condolences can be made to www.wellmanfuneralhomes.com.
