Danny Ray Bunting Sr. (1947-2025)
Columbus, Ohio – It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of Danny Ray Bunting Sr., a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished Papa. Danny passed away on December 3rd at the age of 78. Known for his boundless generosity, unwavering support, and strong work ethic, Danny built a legacy of love and security for his family, always putting their needs first.
Born on June 10, 1947, in Lenore, West Virginia, he enlisted in the US Army at a young age and served his country with honor and integrity. After his military career he worked for the railroad for 20 years. He owned a pizza chain called Family Pizza for several years. He then owned a grocery store in Commercial Point, D and H market for several years that he worked at everyday with his wife Hope. After he sold the store, he worked at the Central Ohio Transit Authority for 15 years before he retired. Danny demonstrated many characteristics of a true entrepreneur, seeking new challenges and opportunities.
Danny’s generosity extended beyond his immediate family; he was known for his big heart and helping friends expecting nothing in return. He taught his children resilience and the importance of family above all else. His love was a daily devotion to his wife Hope and they had a way of always making each other laugh. Though he will not be with her physically, she will have countless memories that will remain in her heart forever.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Hope Bunting and his children,
Karen (Randy) Burlew, David (Tina) Penwell, Danny (Kelly) Bunting Jr. and Mary (Brad) Mathias and his many adoring grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Harold Bunting Sr., his mother Wilma Jean Mehler, his brother Greg Bunting and his son Roger Ebert Jr.
Danny did not like being the center of attention, and per his wishes, there will be no services. Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time. He may be gone from our sight, but his generous spirit and enduring love will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.
