Betty Hayes Combs of Circleville, Ohio went to be with the Lord on October 2, 2026 at the age of 95 years old. Betty graduated from Jackson High School, Jackson, Ohio in 1948 as salutatorian of her class and a member of the National Honor Society. Betty was employed at several businesses in Circleville and left her position with the Circleville City Schools to temporarily care for her parents in Jackson County. Betty accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at the age of 10 years old. She taught Sunday School for many years-especially teenagers. She formerly served as a volunteer at Pickaway Senior Center and at Berger Hospital. Her teaching and generous selfless giving has been an influence to many. She was preceded in death by her parents, T.R. and Laura Hayes, one sister, Dixie Miller, and four brothers: Morris, Robert, Lindsey and Lon Hayes, her husband of 70 years, Eddie Combs Sr. and her older son, Eddie “Ed” Combs. Also, a daughter-in-law, Karyne Combs and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law have gone on before. She has on son who survives, Clifford Michael combs of Pensacola, FL. She is also survived by one sister and brother-in-law, the Rev. David Henson and Rose, with whom she made her home in recent years. Betty is also survived by three grandchildren, two bonus grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three bonus great grandchildren. Also, a number of nieces and nephews and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law survive. The Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 from 10-11 a.m. with services following at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. David Henson and Rev. Pastor Keith Williams will officiate with burial at Forest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a contribution to the Gideons would be appreciated.
