Betty Louise Cantrell Coleman passed away on October 13, 2026 at Logan Elm Health Care. She was born March 31, 1939 in Greenup, KY, the daughter of Lafie and Louise Cantrell. She spent her childhood in Baltimore, MD, before moving to Circleville, OH where she lived the rest of her life. Betty married Bernard “Chico” Coleman on 10/5/1962, then divorced in 1987. They had two children, Carl (Shelly) Coleman and Losi (Trent) Hanley. She had five grandchildren, Carl M. (Jessica) Coleman, Mark Coleman, Courtney (Blake) Harvey, Kyle Lewis and Kayla Hanley. She had four great grandchildren, Drew Coleman, Everett Hayward, Sophia and Kaden Coleman. In additional to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Gerald Cantrell, Herald “Bud” Cantrell, Glen Cantrell, Ruth Harman, Jean Coleman and Carson “Jim” Cantrell. She is survived by one sibling, Shirely Cantrell, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Growing up Betty’s older brothers taught her to target shoot and swim in The Chesapeake Bay. After moving to Circleville, she attended the Nazarene Church and later Outreach Ministries. She was a Cub Scout leader with her sister, Jean Coleman. She hosted many holiday dinners with family, and her home became the family hub on weekends. She attended countless parades watching her daughter perform with the American Cadets and the Eaglettes baton drum corp, as well as her son’s baseball and bowling activities. She won a few Powder Puff races at Salt Creek Valley Speedway that was located along Heffner Rd. near Circleville, driving Chico’s red number 8 race car. Betty loved to crochet and use tri-chem paint. She later taught herself to use oil paint in the Bob Ross style and painted many beautiful landscapes. She worked for 22 years at the GE Lamp Plant in Circleville. After retiring, she became a line dance instructor at Olivedale Senior Center in Lancaster, OH. Taking trips to Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon brought her great joy. She traveled out west, each summer for years, with different family members and friends. She said her dream was to move to Custer, SD and teach line dancing at their senior center. Unfortunately her battle with dementia took her from us too soon. Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday October 19, 2026 at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
