Bea Smith, age 85, passed away on May 12, 2026. She was born on July 9, 1940, in Vinton County, Ohio to her parents Beaman and Flota Speakman. Bea was a graduate of Williamsport High School, class of 1958. She met the center of her world and best friend, Paul D. Smith, at Frisch’s in Washington C.H. She and tall Paul were wed, then spent the next 25 years raising two daughters. Bea was a loyal employee with the Pickaway County Probate Court. Later, she served as a nursing assistant wherein she nurtured her patients with care. Bea was an active Christian who poured her generous spirit of love over all who knew her. Of all that Bea loved in life, she loved her family most of all. Family meant everything, especially her grandchildren. Bea is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings and their spouses. Bea’s brothers Clyde (Nancy) Speakman and Sam (Faye) Speakman, as well as her sister Linda (Ron) Waugh all walked through life together as the blessing we all call family. Bea had the sorrow of mourning the loss of her husband and then both Tracy Lynn (her oldest daughter) and Dennis Johnston (son-in-law). Left to mourn her passing is her daughter, Carrie Hill, and Bea’s three grandsons: Cody (Candice) Johnston, Paul Hill and Jesse Hill. She has left behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and of course many fine friends. Services have been entrusted to Wellman’s Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, Bea had requested donations to her favorite Ukrainian ministry: Mulberry International Resources, P.O. Box 43623, Louisville, KY 40253 (mulberryinternational.org). Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville with burial to follow in Springlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 1-2 p.m. Online condolences can be made at www.wellmanfuneralhomes.com.
