Alan Randall (“Randy”) O’Conner, born July 27, 1959 in Washington Courthouse, Ohio, was the type of guy who knew no stranger and met life with an open-minded curiosity. His warmth was matched only by his strong sense of adventure. Whether soaring high above southern Ohio in an ultralight trike, cruising country roads on his Harley, or deep-sea fishing off the Atlantic Coast, Randy built a vibrant existence defined by a keen zest for life. He served a dedicated 34-year career with the State of Ohio before roaming the country with his dear companion and fellow adventurer, Gail.
Randy drew his final breath Saturday, March 21st surrounded by family within the home he dreamed into being amid the majestic “holler”. He leaves behind his dedicated wife, Gail Rose, daughters, Crista O’Conner (40) and Catherine Curtis (30)—the latter to whom his role not only included dad, but also mom—son, Justin Holland (37), daughter-in-law, Brandy Holland (41), and grandchildren, Coralyn (7), Bianca (15), and Ly’la (19). He is also survived by his loving parents, Janice & Marvin Young, his late-father’s wife, Jody O’Conner, and siblings Ronnie (Nikki) O’Conner, Lynne Richard, Kevin (Kathy) O’Conner, and Erin (Ethan) Knisley, as well as many nieces and nephews, young and grown. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald O’Conner, and furry granddaughter, Macaroni. Randy will be deeply missed by not only family but also the numerous friends whose lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, Randy would ask that you take a walk in nature and relish memories of the good times shared.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Randy on July 25, 2026 at the Knotty Knot Lodge in South Bloomingville.
