Phyllis Mary Swackhammer, 82, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family who loved her dearly. She was born November 26, 1936 to Harold and Elizabeth Febes.
She was a lifetime resident of Hocking County and a long time member of the Laurel Hills United Methodist Church. Phyllis retired from Logan Elm School District with 20 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband F.E. (Bud) Swackhammer, children Gary and Gayle, brothers Charles, Tom and Lawrence Febes and sister, Doris Disbennett. She is survived by children Steve (Jonnie), Tracy (Mary), Trent (Marilyn) Swackhammer and Sandra Zwayer (Walter); grandchildren, Jake, Gabe, Leah, Colin Swackhammer, Brittany (Lance) Canterbury, Madison (Allen) Plants, Rachel (Christopher) Peterson, D'Lani (Nick) Rinehart, and Ian Zwayer; 3 great grandchildren, Maci and Ridge Canterbury and Evelyn Peterson; sister, Patricia Hettinger and brother Robert Febes; sister-in-law Jeannie Tarpey; many nieces and nephews and friends. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all those who gave care and support during her longtime battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wellman Funeral Home, Laurelville with Pastor Dan Coy officiating. Burial will be in Green Summit Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home in Laurelville on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Heartland Hospice.
