Marjorie (Broaddus) Kurtz

Marjorie Edna (Broaddus) (Konkle) Kurtz of Circleville, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Riverside Hospital.

Born July 19, 1935 in Hong Kong, China, Marjorie was the daughter of missionary parent’s Emmitt L. and Alice E. Broaddus. As a young child she and her family were interned for over 3 years during WWII in the Santo Tomas prison camp in Manila, Philippines until liberated by General MacArthur’s troops. She was proud to have shaken hands with General MacArthur and General Eisenhower at age 9.

Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Victor and David Broaddus. She is survived by her sisters Sarah Crawford, Elizabeth (Tom) Lowe, Evelyn Keen and Ruth Chastain. She was married to Marvin E. Konkle and Emil Von Kurtz (deceased) and the mother of 5 children, Roger (Elaine) Konkle, Douglas (Cheryl) Konkle, Pam (Bob) Hively, Brenda (Allen) Holbrook and Holly (Dave) Hulse and 11 grandchildren, Jared (Misty) Konkle, Lance Konkle, Luke Konkle, Brandon (Barbara) Konkle, Jessica (Justin) Fausset, Gabriel (Maureen) Konkle, Leah (Ricky) Hooks, Jeremy (Cheryl) Holbrook, Adam (Jayme) Holbrook, Brad Holbrook, Nathan Hulse and 12 great-grandchildren.

Marjorie especially loved to garden, bake, make crafts and sew. She worked at the Circleville GE Plant until she retired at age 67. She also helped at Pickaway Township school functions with her children and served her Lord through many church activities as a faithful member of Circleville Church of God and formerly at Circleville First Baptist Church.  Many thanks to the staff at Pickaway Manor assisted living and rehabilitation units for their fine care.  Visitation will be at Wellman’s Funeral Home, Circleville on Friday, September 28, 2018 from 4 to 7pm. With a memorial service on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11am held at the Circleville Church of God and officiated by Pastor Keith Williams.
